Nigeria Women’s Beach Volleyball Team qualifies for Los Angeles 2028 Olympics
Nigerias womens beach volleyball team has qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time after defeating Morocco 2-0 in the final of the 2026 CAVB Womens Beach Volleyball Championship in Alexandria, Egypt, on Saturday, August 22, 2026. The victory secured Nigerias place at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States, where the team will represent the continent in the beach volleyball event. Nigeria dominated the final, winning the two sets 21-17 and 21-10 to claim the gold medal and secure the historic Olympic ticket. The team had earlier booked its place in the final after defeating Mozambique 2-0 in the semi-finals with identical set scores of 21-17 and 21-17. Reacting to the achievement, the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, congratulated the team and described the qualification as a landmark milestone for the country. "I wish to congratulate Nigerians and thank God. This is the fourth time we are going into the finals; we finished in second place on three occasions," Nimrod said."God has done it for us on our fourth trial and given us victory. It is not the Nigeria Volleyball Federations success alone but the entire nation," he added. The post Nigeria Womens Beach Volleyball Team qualifies for Los Angeles 2028 Olympics appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
