Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe leaves role after nearly five years in charge
Newcastle manager, Eddie Howe is leaving his role after five years at St James Park. His exit comes just 25 days before Newcastle's first game of the new Premier League season when they host Liverpool at St James' Park on Aug. 23.The 48-year-old replaced Steve Bruce in November 2021 and won the League Cup in March 2025, the clubs first major trophy since 1969. The former Bournemouth boss also led Newcastle to Champions League qualification in 2023 and 2025. But he came under pressure last season as the Magpies finished 12th in the Premier League, with 17 defeats in their 38 games. Howe is not the first high-profile departure from St James' Park this summer, with Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali joining Barcelona and Tottenham, respectively. Bruno Guimares could yet join them in leaving the club, with Arsenal linked with a move for the Brazil midfielder. Howe's final game in charge was a brutal 4-1 pre-season loss to Championship side Bristol City on Wednesday night. The post Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe leaves role after nearly five years in charge appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
