 Nigerian writer and commentator Solomon Buchi has criticised South African singer Tyla over her planned performance in Nigeria, calling on Nigerians to boycott the show. Buchi argued that Tyla remained silent during xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other immigrants in South Africa, but is now planning to perform for Nigerian fans. According to him, Nigerians should use the planned concert as an opportunity to make a statement against xenophobia rather than welcome the singer with open arms. Tyler must not have that show, Buchi said, arguing that Nigerians should support local artistes instead. He also suggested that Nigerians who love Tylas music could travel to South Africa to attend her shows, while urging those who attend her Nigerian concert to protest peacefully against xenophobia. Its not about Tyla.
